Welcome to VAP Society Public Community Thread!

Hello and welcome to the public community forum.
Here, you can introduce yourself, participate in discussion, or start a topic discussion regarding the harms of pornography.

***PLEASE READ OUR CHAT RULES AND GUIDELINES BEFORE COMMENTING AND POSTING***

*Forum Rules*

  • No ad hominem attacks (that includes racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and other discriminatory attitudes towards others).
  • Be positive and supportive towards anti-porn members.
  • Respect that others may have a different approach and come from different backgrounds.
  • Everyone has the right to an opinion.
  • We are all here to educate and help one another.
  • If you don't have anything positive to contribute please don't comment.
  • Constructive criticism is acceptable; personal attacks are not.
  • Treat members in good faith.
  • This is not the place to brag of sexual exploits.
  • This is not the place to arrange dates (we will have a 19+ dating section for that in the near future).
  • Whether or not you believe in a Higher Power is a personal matter. Do not attempt to impose your view of these things on others.
  • You don't have to "correct" the thinking of others. It's OK not to comment at all.
  • Do not suggest illegal or controversial actions.
  • No encouraging of prostitute use nor strip club use. VAP Society is against ALL forms of sexual exploitation including sexual commodification.
  • Be careful of triggers.
  • Don't name specific porn sites or actors (if you do, censor them to prevent triggering others).
  • If you must discuss a potential trigger put an alert into place so that others can avoid it.
  • When dealing with partners or spouses of addicts, be kind. Betrayal trauma is a form of PTSD and should always be taken seriously. Also remember, families, children, etc, are at stake.
  • When dealing with porn users and those who are trying to learn, be patient. Making efforts to quit porn or making efforts to understand about the harms of pornography is one of the most admirable things anyone can do.
  • Avoid name calling.
